Founders Life — Diversification for founders with concentrated equity
Founders Life is a Sweden-based, EuVECA-registered fund manager. We help PE- and VC-backed European founders diversify wealth that is concentrated in a single private company, without a sale on the open market and without disrupting their cap table.
The problem we solve
Most successful founders of private, sponsor-backed companies have the majority of their net worth locked in a single, illiquid holding. Traditional liquidity paths — a secondary sale, an IPO, or a full exit — are slow, dilutive, or send the wrong signal to investors and employees.
How it works
- You contribute roughly one-third of your shares in your private company to a Founders Life fund vehicle.
- In return you receive shares in the fund.
- The fund holds a diversified portfolio of similar high-quality private companies contributed by other founders.
The exchange is cashless. No shares are sold on the open market. Your remaining direct stake in your own company is preserved.
Who qualifies
European founders whose company is backed by a reputable private equity or venture capital sponsor, and who hold significant concentrated equity in that single private company.

Founders Life was founded by Erlend Reitan and Gotfred Berntsen. Founders Life AB is the operating fund management company, registered in Sweden as a European Venture Capital Fund (EuVECA) manager.
